Work succeeds only through mobilization and not just through intentions.

न हि सुप्तस्य सिंहस्य प्रविशन्ति मुखे मृगाः ||
Deer (or other animals) do not simply walk into a sleeping Lion's mouth!

ऋणशेषोsग्निशेषश्च शत्रुशेषस्तथैव च |
The remainder of a loan, fire and enemy

पुन:पुनः प्रवर्धन्ते तस्माच्छेषं न रक्षयेत् ||
grow and increase from time to time and hence, the remainder should never be saved.

Taatparya: A loan, a fire and an enemy, should always be completely repaid/extinguished/destroyed and not left to remain: as the remainder always grows and increases from time to time, and are always threatening.

अकृत्यं मन्यतॆ कृत्यमगम्यं मन्यतॆ सुगम् |

Un-doable is thought to-be-done (kartavya), un-achievable is thought to be easily-achievable

and

अभक्ष्यं मन्यतॆ भक्ष्यम् स्त्रीवाक्य प्रेरितो नर: ||

Un-edible is thought to-be-eaten when a man is influenced by a woman's words!

The subhaashitakaara highlights (and in pun) the strong influence of woman's words on a man.

The trees, give shade to others standing in heat themselves

परोपकार : - An action of benevolence, help, donation, favour, a deed that brings comfort to other, being highlighted here:

परोपकाराय फलन्ति वृक्षा: परोपकाराय वहन्ति नद्य: |
Trees give fruits for others' favour, Rivers flow for others' help.

परोपकाराय दुहन्ति: गाव: परोपकारार्थमिदं शरीरम् ||
Cows give milk for others' benevolence, this human body itself is for others' help!

A subhaashita about subhaashita!

द्राक्षा म्लानमुखी जाता शर्करा चाश्मतां गता |
Grapes became withered, Sugar crystals became stones.

सुभाषित रसं दृष्ट्वा सुधा भीता दिवं गता ||
Looking the taste/essense of 'subhaashita', the nectar ran away feared to heaven!
